Since 1989, when a small group of Kiwanians signed a 99-year lease with the Jefferson County Department of Parks and Recreation, it has been a dream to expand our facilities to enable us to provide year round services to more people with special needs.

Toward this end, our board developed a long range construction plan.

The plan includes four phases:

Phase 1

An adaptive bathhouse

Phase 2

View four bunkhouses

Phase 3

Remodel our current lodge to create a multi-purpose facility

Phase 4

A three-bay garage and shop.

We raised the funds for and completed the construction of the bathhouse in 2009, which houses adaptive toilets, showers, and a laundry room.

In 2015, with the assistance of a grant from the Port Townsend Rotary Club, "Fund a Cause", and the Karakin Foundation, we completed some of the remodeling of our current lodge, to include a new roof, new furnace, and the addition of a commercial kitchen. Thanks to Lakeside Industries of Port Angeles and an individual donor, we were also able to pave ADA compliant paths around the site, which allows our campers full access to our facility.

In January 2017, with the assistance of funding from the Norcliffe and Karakin Foundations, the Gig Harbor Kiwanis Club, and numerous unrestricted donations and fund raising activities, carried out by Kiwanis Clubs in Clallam, Jefferson, and Pierce counties, we will complete the construction of our 4 bunkhouses.

In 2018, our intention and hope is to be able to complete the remodel of our current lodge, to provide a place for meetings, workshops, lodging, administrative offices, and a cafeteria.

And, we hope that by 2019 we will be able to complete the garage, which will house our new adaptive vehicles, and provide us with a maintenance shop, and much needed storage.

Thanks to the generosity, dedication, and support of many, many people, what we have accomplished so far is nothing short of a miracle, but we still have a long way to go to meet the needs.

If you want to put your money into something you know "makes a difference", I invite you to view some of the pictures we feature on our web site and Facebook page, and I'm sure you will have know doubt that you need to become part of the "Camp Beausite Dream".
