Certified DDA Respite Provider — Weekend and Summer Programs

Respite That’s More Than a Break
Respite care isn’t just about giving caregivers time off — though that matters enormously. It’s about making sure the person you care for has their own experience. Their own adventures. Their own friendships. Their own stories to tell when they come home.
Camp Beausite Northwest is a certified DDA respite provider offering year-round weekend and summer residential camp programs for youth and adults with developmental disabilities on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula. When your family member comes to camp, they’re not being “watched.” They’re doing archery, learning, hiking, making art, singing at campfire, eating meals, making friends, and being part of a community that has been celebrating people of all abilities since 1989.
We serve campers ages 10 to 99+ and accept DDA waiver funding.
How DDA Respite Funding Works for Camp
If your family member receives services through Washington’s Developmental Disabilities Administration, you likely have respite hours or units allocated through your waiver. Camp Beausite NW is set up to accept those units directly, which means camp can be partially or fully funded through your existing DDA benefits.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1 — Register for camp. Visit campbeausitenw.org/registration and complete the registration form. Indicate that you plan to use DDA respite funding.
Step 2 — Communicate with your case resource manager that you want Camp Beausite Northwest listed as a provider.
Step 3 — Camp Beausite Northwest will reach out directly to your CRM in order to facilitate all of the backend of providing the invoiced units and dates to be utilized and billed once your camper has attended camp.
Step 4 — Attend camp. Your family member comes to camp, has an incredible experience, and you get the break you need.
If you’re unsure how many units you have, which waiver you’re on, or how to get started, contact us. We’ve helped hundreds of families navigate this process and we’re happy to walk you through it.
Weekend Respite Programs Year-Round

Our summer camp sessions run Monday through Saturday — a full week of residential camp with themed programming, daily activities, evening events, campfire, and round-the-clock care.
Summer sessions are open to all care levels, including campers who are nonverbal, use wheelchairs, or need hands-on assistance with daily living. Every session has a unique weekly theme (past themes include Camp Mouseketeer, Camp Super Heroes, and Camp Broadway).
Summer Camp Pricing:
$2,100 / 335 DDA units at standard ratios (1:2, 1:3, or 1:4)

All summer camp sessions are eligible for DDA respite funding.

Applying for Campership Scholarships
If your DDA funding doesn’t fully cover camp costs, or if your family member isn’t currently enrolled in DDA services, we offer campership scholarships through our annual fund. These scholarships help bridge the gap so that finances are never the reason someone misses out on camp.
To apply, indicate your interest in financial assistance on the registration form. Our team will follow up with you to discuss options.
We also work with community partners including PAVE (Partnerships for Action, Voices for Empowerment) to provide additional funding opportunities.
What Caregivers Need to Know
Registration — Opens January 15th each year at campbeausitenw.org/registration. Early registration is strongly recommended for 1:1 care and wheelchair accommodations.
Health and care information — During registration, you’ll provide detailed information about your family member’s care needs, medications, behavioral supports, daily routines, dietary requirements, and preferences. The more you share, the better prepared we can be.
What to pack — We provide a detailed packing list after registration. The basics: comfortable clothing for outdoor activities, any personal care items, medications in original packaging, and a labeled water bottle.
Communication during camp — We understand that sending your loved one to camp can be nerve-wracking, especially the first time. Our staff are available to provide updates and we encourage you to reach out if you have concerns.
Drop-off and pick-up — Summer camp check-in is Monday at 4:00 PM. Check-out is Saturday at 10:30 AM. Weekend camp check-in is Friday evening at 6:00pm with check-out on Sunday at 3:00pm.
